Google has another program that will help you promote your web page and get
more traffic to your podcasts. It's called the Google Site Maps.
Google Site maps are an XML document that lists the important pages in your web
page. Once you have installed the site map in your web page Google is then
able to better search your site and list the important information on your web
page. It was started in 2005 and before site maps came into being the web
page your worked so hard creating was indexed by Googlebot and important items
like your podcast might or might not have been found and indexed.
But when you have a Google Site map on your web site you can tell Google
valuable information about your web site. Google wants to be sure that they find
the important information on your web page and especially the information that
changes often like new podcasts. So with the site map you can tell Google
the importance of certain pages in your web page. You can even rank the
importance of the web pages by giving them a ranking of 0.0 to 1.0. You
can also tell Google how often your might be updating the different pages.
The first thing you need to do to get the site map installed on your computer
is to set up an account with
Google. Then you need to create a Google Site map and you can
easily and quickly do this at
XML-sitemaps.com. There are a lot of ways to make a site map but this
link will get you up and going real quick. They will generate the site map
for you and provide you with the links to complete the installation with Google.
